CITE have developed a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that will enable you to import or read a Bill of Quantities, in CITE 4.2 format (EBQ), into Microsoft Excel.
The spreadsheet cannot be used to write or convert a Bill of Quantiites, produced using Excel, into the EBQ format.
The Reader comes with on screen instructions and has been tested with Excel 2002, 2003, and 2007.
Macro Security
Please note that there are macros in the spreadsheet. To enable macros depends which version of Excel you are using.
Excel 2002 and 2003
You will need to set your Macro Security to Medium (or lower) for the Reader to work. To do this go to Tools | Macro | Security… Then on the Security Level tab select the Medium option and click OK before opening the spreadsheet. Setting the Security Level to Low is not recommended.
Excel 2007
On the Security Warning bar that appears when you open the spreadsheet click on the Options... button and then Enable this content. Click OK.
Using the reader with Excel 2007
The instructions in the spreadsheet only apply to Excel 2002 and 2003. In Excel 2007 you will need to click on the Add-Ins menu item to see the CITE menu (button). Click on CITE and you will get the Read EBQ File... menu item.
